Ben wasn't as enthusiastic about his "interview" for the first day of school. :)

Natalie

For some reason Natalie thought that she needed to have a pony tail for her first day of school. She insisted that I put it in the night before...and of course, it got rumbled during the night. First thing when she woke up, she pulled out the hair band and asked me to fix her "pony" back nice.

First Day of School!

Today was our first day of school.

Ben is "in" third grade and Natalie is doing four year old kindergarten. She will be in "kindergarten" for two years. We are working on her shapes, numbers, colors, alphabet and letter sounds, seasons, etc. this year. I don't really care which grade the kids say they are in as those are more of a school system label, but Natalie INSISTS that she is in kindergarten....so kindergarten it is! She was very excited about today.

During lessons we found a frog in the house and had to take a break to go put water in the pond (it hasn't rained here in ages) so that we could release the frog.

Later we are going to go pick apples from our orchard (I can't believe that it is already apple time!) and do an art lesson with a few of them. We read about woodblock prints in art so we are going to try our hand at making some prints (using apples instead of wood as they are easier to carve).

Zoe Crawling

Zoe is 11 Months Old!

Zoe is eleven months old! She is now crawling, albeit not a "normal" crawl (when did one of my children ever do something the "normal" way? :) ) She does one side on her hands and knees but the other leg kind of does something different. I will try to get a video up soon. It is hilarious. It gets her where she needs to go though. When I say "where she needs to go", I actually mean "it gets her all around the house so that she can get into everything possible". She pulls up well and is starting to "cruise" around the furniture a bit. She is very curious.

She also has her first tooth poking up through the gum. It is her left bottom tooth and it is just barely peeking through. She is mostly a happy baby but when she doesn't like something she has no problem letting us know. She grumbles and growls and throws herself around in a little hissy.

She is the center of her brother and sister's lives. She is the first thing they look to when they wake up in the morning. They love to make her laugh.

Ben's Fan Mail...

Ben sent his first fan letter this morning. He has been reading the "Fudge" books by Judy Blume and wanted to write to her to ask if she would please write more. I helped with the spelling of "sincerely" but the rest of it is his own. Here is his letter:

TO JUDY BLUME, HELLO I AM BEN. I AM7. I LOVE YOUR FUDGE BOOKS, I WISH YOU COULD WRITE MORE.
SINCERELY,
BEN
